What's Shakin' With the Fam...

Well, here is the family update...

Morgan
  • Working hard...so hard actually that he fell asleep at his desk the other day! :)
  • Excited about the babies. He cries at pretty much every ultrasound! Awwww.
  • Morgan's uncle had heart surgery in Colorado last week and we are happy to report that he is recovering nicely. We sent him some fruit to help him with the healing process.
Nicole
  • Still working full time, though her days are likely numbered. She is being a trooper and trying to make it it to the 28 week cut-off point, but each week gets a little tougher and she is taking things day by day. She is feeling really good with no problems at all other than a little back pain every now and then. Let's hope it stays that way!
  • Graduate school is going just fine. Nicole has a MASSIVE thesis paper to complete this semester along with two additional classes, but by May it will all be ancient history and she will be a happy owner of a Master's degree in K-12 Educational Administration. Yippee!
  • Nic is BIG into politics right now and when the TV is on it is usually tuned to MSNBC, CNN or Fox News to get the latest info. on who is doing what and why. She, and Morgan, are both very excited about the candidates and the prospect of a regime change here in the USA.
Finn
  • Growth - Finn is growing like a weed! She just passed the 15 month mark and is already stretching the limits of her 18 month sized clothes. Most of the time we just go ahead and put her in the 24 month size even though some of them are a still little bit big.
  • Skills - She learned to take her shoes off by herself! This may sound small, but it is a huge task for a little munchkin like Finn. She is really good about it and seems to like doing it, though the right shoe sometimes causes her more difficulty than the left.
  • Vocabulary - After months of "mama", "dada", "yeah", etc. we have an official "first words" for the child..."BOOK" and "BUBBLES". Finn just started saying this over the last few weeks and it is pretty much the cutest thing ever. We attribute "bubble" to the fact that a) two of her favorite books include bubbles, and b) Morgan gives her a bubble bath pretty much every night after she has dinner. As far as "book" goes, she is constantly picking up books and toting them around for one of us to read to her.
  • Foods - Finn has never met a kind of cheese that she didn't like! The kid loves cheese A LOT (we think she gets this from her Aunt Noelle) and always makes sure that she eats all of her cheese before she touches anything else. She has also been eating pancakes, strawberries, bananas, lettuce, and turkey among other things. She had her first taste of pudding and ice cream (in very small quantities) over the past few weeks and seems to really like both.
  • Entertainment - Finleigh loves, loves, loves PBS shows (which makes mom and dad very happy). She enjoys Sesame Street just fine, but her absolute favorite without a doubt is a relatively new show called "It's A Big, Big World" that features a variety of animals with all sorts of dilemmas to face each day. The show is created by combining a variety of techniques including old-fashioned puppetry and some high tech backgrounds. It is hosted by a very laid back sloth named Snook and includes all kinds of songs and dances for Finn to enjoy. No matter how grumpy she may be on any given day, this show makes her smile.
Twinclairs
  • The babies are both doing great! We had an ultrasound today and they are growing stronger every day. Baby A is tipping the scales at about 1 lb. and 12 ozs. and Baby B is weighing in at about 1 lb. and 13 ozs. so they are both closing in on the 2 lb. mark. The doctor showed us growth charts and both babies are right on target for "average" size which made us very happy to hear.
  • Baby A (the one closest to the cervix) has FINALLY flipped head down and we are hope, hope, hoping that she will stay that way all the way until the babies are born. If she switches back to a breech position then the chances of a cesarean birth are increased so let's hope she stays right where she is if at all possible.
  • Baby B is very active and has changed positions a bit since our last ultrasound. He likes to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out a lot and we often saw his legs creeping into the pictures of Baby A. He is not head down or head up, but rather in a "transverse" position which is kind of across the top part of the uterus.
  • Names - We have not selected names for the babies yet, but we are working hard at getting a pool of names we like together so that when the time comes our choices are narrowed down to at least a reasonable amount. We did this with Finleigh, too, and found that it was a bit easier than just branding her with a name before we even met the child.
Well, that is about it I suppose. We'll keep you posted with any changes or news! :)

Love,
Morgan, Nic and Finn
